TRIO Project

In this show, Renato Anesi -- one of the greatest living practitioners of Brazilian instrumental music -- offers the audience a grand and swinging tour of the works of some of Brazil’s finest composers alongside his own unique compositions.
The trio of stringed instruments -- including the tenor guitar, acoustic bass and a range of percussion instruments --- performs Anesi’s arrangements of works by composers ranging from the turn-of-the-20th-century Ernesto Nazareth to midcentury greats like Jacob do Bandolim and Garoto to contemporary masters such as Gilberto Gil.
All the works selected are characterized by strong & surprising melodic lines, sophisticated harmony and rhythmic daring… and in the hands of the Renato Anesi Trio, these works soar playfully and continue to reveal new secrets.
